What does 'in transit', 'out for delivery' or 'exception' mean? Plain-English explanations of every courier tracking status you'll see.
Courier tracking pages show short status phrases that aren’t always clear. Here’s what each one means and what to do about it.
Booked / Picked up
The courier has received your parcel and created the shipment record. Tracking is now active.
In transit
Your parcel is travelling between hubs or cities. This is the most common status and can repeat for several scans on long routes.
Arrived at facility
The parcel reached a sorting hub. It will be sorted onto the next vehicle — usually within hours.
Out for delivery
The rider has your parcel and delivery is scheduled today. Make sure someone is available at the address.
Delivered
Handed over and signed for. If you didn’t receive it, check with family, neighbours or your building’s reception, then call the courier with the delivery timestamp from your tracking.
On hold / Exception
Something needs attention: wrong address, failed attempt, customs hold, or unpaid charges. Call customer care promptly — parcels on hold can be returned after a few days.
Return to origin
The parcel is going back to the sender, usually after repeated failed deliveries. Contact the sender to arrange re-dispatch.
